Welcome to Focus For Good. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using our mobile application.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Focus For Good ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Focus For Good is a productivity application that helps you stay focused by:
- Blocking distracting apps during focus sessions using Apple's Screen Time API
- Allowing you to commit credits (purchased via in-app purchase) to focus sessions
- Providing motivation through financial commitment
Operating Modes
Serious Mode: You commit credits to your focus session. Complete the session to keep your credits. End early and credits are forfeited to your chosen charity.
Lite Mode: Free to use. Watch an unskippable advertisement to end your session early. 25% of all ad revenue from Lite Mode is donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
3. Credits and Purchases
Purchasing Credits
- Credits are purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system
- 1 Credit = $1 USD
- All purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's terms
- Credits are non-refundable except as required by applicable law
Using Credits
- Credits are committed to Serious Mode focus sessions
- Complete your session to retain your committed credits
- End a session early and your committed credits are forfeited
- Deleting the app during an active Serious Mode session will result in forfeiture of your committed credits
App Deletion During Active Sessions
If you delete Focus For Good while a Serious Mode focus session is in progress:
- Your committed credits for that session will be permanently forfeited
- The forfeited amount will be allocated to charity as described in Section 4
- Blocked apps will be automatically unblocked by iOS when the app is deleted
- Reinstalling the app will not restore forfeited credits
No Cash Value
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money
- Credits cannot be transferred between accounts or devices
- Unused credits remain in your account until used or forfeited
4. Charitable Donations
Forfeited Credits (Serious Mode)
When you forfeit credits by ending a Serious Mode session early:
- Apple's App Store commission (currently 15-30%) is first deducted from the forfeited amount
- 75% of the remaining amount after App Store fees is allocated to your chosen charity
- 25% of the remaining amount after App Store fees supports app development and maintenance
Ad Revenue (Lite Mode)
When you use Lite Mode and watch advertisements:
- 25% of all ad revenue generated is donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
- This donation is automatic and does not require any action from you
- Donations are processed monthly in aggregate
Important Disclosures
- You are not making a tax-deductible donation. The forfeiture is a consequence of not completing your session.
- We donate on your behalf. Focus For Good aggregates forfeited credits and makes quarterly donations to charities.
- Charity selection is a preference. We make reasonable efforts to honor your charity selection, but reserve the right to donate to equivalent charitable organizations if necessary.
- Donation timing. Donations are processed quarterly, not immediately upon forfeiture.
5. Screen Time and App Blocking
Authorization Required
The App requires Screen Time authorization to function. You may revoke this authorization at any time in your device settings.
Limitations
- App blocking relies on Apple's Screen Time API and FamilyControls framework
- We cannot guarantee blocking will work in all circumstances
- Some system apps and functions cannot be blocked
- You can always end a session (with appropriate consequences based on mode)
Your Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Selecting which apps to block
- Choosing appropriate session durations
- Understanding the consequences of ending sessions early
6. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to circumvent app blocking through technical means
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App in any way that could damage or impair the service
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, and content, is owned by Focus For Good and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission.
8. Disclaimers
"As Is" Service
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
No Guarantee of Results
We do not guarantee that using the App will improve your productivity, focus, or achieve any particular results.
Technical Limitations
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TIME IS MONEY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
- Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for credits in the past 12 months
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Focus For Good from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us.
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Focus For Good regarding the App.
